Is the most common thyroid cancer. It is more common in females and is associated with exposure to radiation. It metastasis to regional neck lymph nodes.

Solid/ cystic grey white – grey tan thyroid tissue.
Occasional cases show papillary excrescences.

Normal thyroid tissue with a tumor composed of cells arranged in papillary pattern.
Cells are crowded with optically clear nuclei (ground glass nuclei).
Psammoma bodies are seen.
