A 55-year-old female presented with history of recurrent jaundice and distension of abdomen 

Interpret the results of Liver function tests. 

A. What is the diagnosis? Write two points in favour of your diagnosis.

Diagnosis: Obstructive jaundice

1. A 55-year-old female having history of recurrent jaundice and distension of abdomen with increased direct bilirubinemia, alkaline phosphatase and gamma glutamyl transferase

2. Normal SGOT, SGPT, Total proteins, albumin and A:G ratio.

B. Mention the causes for the above diagnosis

1. Gall stones

2. Carcinoma of bile ducts

3. Pancreatitis and Pancreatic cancer

4. Inflammatory stricture of bile ducts

5. Biliary cirrhosis
