• Hb- 9.7 gm/dl ↓
• RBC- 4.28 mil/cumm ↓ PCV- 29.9 % ↓
• MCV- 69.7 fl ↓
• MCH- 22.6 pg ↓
• MCHC- 30.4 gm % ↓
• RDW- 18.4 % ↑
Histogram
• shift to left indicates microcytosis
• broad base indicates anisocytosis
Peripheral blood smear
• RBC s are microcytic and hypochromic, elliptocytes seen
• WBC s are normal in number, morphology and distribution
• Platelets adequate

D. What are the biochemical findings in the above case?
• Serum Iron- low (50 to 150 μg/dl)
• Serum Ferritin- low (N- 15 to 300 μg/dl)
• Transferrin saturation- low (N-16 to 50%)
• TIBC- increased (N-300-360 μg/dl)
